50's LOTD- Liner Lashes and LipStick Obsessed!

Hey Beauties!

I'm just gonna start by saying I am 24 years old, born in 1987 when feathered hair, tube socks and a matching hair scrunchie on the wrist was in style ( and believe me my mother made me the greatest fashion victim of all time :). I grew up in the 90's and... ok lets just erase the 90's all together, cause i had a mullet and was wayyy too overweight. I need that memory eraser from Men In Black because that decade of my life needs to be gone. :( fast forward to the 2000's where cut off shirts, white eyeliner and an offensive amount of hair gel was the "thing". Yea, that wasn't working for me either.

Now its 2012 and I have to say I love fashion now and I'm comfortable in my skin. But for some reason I am a slave to the 50's glamour and makeup looks.  The old hollywood movies were watched all the time in my house, I lived with my grandparents for the better half of my life, and Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly and Ingrid Bergman were forever gracing the television set. The beauty and poise of these women was just about as perfect as there eyeliner, and I longed for the day when I would be allowed to wear makeup. Aside from the movies, my great- great grandmother (*rip oct 3 2011* she was 101!!!!) was a seamstress for Germaine Monteil, the French perfume company that still exists today. Originally she was a clothes designer and my grama was one of her Germaine Monteil's seamstresses, and did a little modeling for her.  She was exposed to high end makeup all the time and took great pride in applying and choosing her makeup. Granted, this was sometime around the 20's and 30's but my grandmas flawless taste carried on through the years and the 50's, in my eyes, she was stunning. I have always looked at past pictures of her from around the 1950's and marvel at the presicion eyeliner and flawless skin. The makeup of the 50's has always been a look that I obsess over and try to perfect, ruby lips, thick liner and lashes is like a beautiful dream to me. It is also a look that I try so hard to perfect, as I pretty much wear it everyday. My go-to look is not just that, it is a dream and an obsession to me, one that every time I look at a picture of my grama or see an old hollywood movie will live on till I'm old and grey. Sorry for the nonsensical rambling ( :x ) but that being said here is what makes me happy and what makes me feel beautiful even on my worst day....

I love glitter and i love color, but there is something so sexy to me about thick liner and red lips, this look is timeless! I feel like it always will be... and I'm totally ok with that. :) Do any of you beautiful ladiez have a look that your obsessed with?

<3 See ya laterrrr

  6. This is awfully pretty- and I love that red on your lips.
I adore retro-styled makeup, 50's and of course goth-inspired makeup... I do more of that when I'm not around my parents because my Dad doesn't like me with a ton of makeup lol
